How to Share Airtel Data in Nigeria (2026): Data Gifting and Sharing

Sending data to another Airtel number is straightforward. You can either buy a data bundle for someone else or use Airtel’s data sharing options, depending on what you want to do.

How to Gift Airtel Data to Another Number

The simplest option is to buy a fresh data bundle for another Airtel customer.

  1. Dial *312#.
  2. Select the data plan you want.
  3. Choose Buy for Others.
  4. Enter the recipient’s Airtel number.
  5. Confirm the purchase.

Airtel’s current Data Share & Gifting information confirms this route for buying a fresh bundle for another number.

Can You Share Data You Already Have?

Yes. Airtel also provides data gifting and sharing through the *321# menu. Dial *321# and select the data gifting or sharing option available on your line.

This is different from buying a new bundle for someone else: gifting purchases a fresh plan for the recipient, while sharing is used to manage eligible data from your line.

Airtel Data Gifting vs Data Sharing

Option How it works Best for
Data Gifting Buy a bundle for another Airtel number Sending a specific plan to family or friends
Data Sharing Use the data-sharing menu for eligible data Sharing available data with another Airtel line

What Code Should You Use?

For buying data for another person, use *312# and choose Buy for Others. For data sharing, dial *321# and select Data Gifting & Sharing.

Things to Know Before Sharing Airtel Data

  • Check the recipient’s number carefully before confirming.
  • Make sure you have enough airtime when buying a bundle for someone else.
  • The gifted bundle keeps the volume and validity of the selected plan.
  • Not every type of bonus or promotional data is necessarily transferable.
  • If the menu looks different on your line, follow the current options displayed after dialing the USSD code.

What If the Data Sharing Code Does Not Work?

Make sure you are using an active Airtel line and that the USSD request completes normally. You can also use the My Airtel App to manage Airtel products and monitor usage.
